THE STORY BEHIND DIXIE
THE SUMMER EVENING THAT GAVE BIRTH TO DIXIE
Dixie began with a summer evening that somehow stayed especially vividly in the memory of Marleen, the creator of Peachys Wear.
It was her birthday, and an Italian-themed dinner was taking place in the garden. The table was filled with delicious food, the air was warm, the guests were dressed for summer, and throughout the evening there was that lovely feeling that arises when the day slowly begins to turn into evening.
Before that, of course, there was the usual flurry of preparations. That exact moment when you want everything to be beautiful and perfect, but you have not yet had a chance to sit down for even a moment.
And then, in the middle of all the bustle, Marleen noticed one guest's red-and-white checked top. There was something about its simplicity that immediately spoke to her. The pattern reminded her of Italy and those long summer days when no one is in a hurry to go anywhere. People take their time, sit around the same table for hours, and enjoy the food, the sunshine, and each other's company.
In Italy, life always seems a little slower. Everything is taken more easily, and you simply let the moment be. That was the feeling the red-and-white checked pattern brought back to Marleen.
After that evening, she kept thinking about the top she had seen. Not only because of how it looked, but above all because of the feeling that came with it. It was summery, light, slightly retro, and somehow liberating all at once.
That was how Dixie quietly began to come to life.
The aim was to take that feeling and turn it into something with a Peachy touch. A red-and-white checked pattern, silver details, a classic cut, and a light retro feel - fresh, feminine, and modern, yet at the same time as if it came from one endless summer day.
Over time, it became clear that Dixie was not really about just one top or one summer evening. It was about the feeling of no longer being in a hurry to go anywhere. When the sun is still out, the day is not over yet, and you can enjoy the moment without thinking about what comes next.
That feeling also gave rise to ENDLESS AFTERNOON - the perfect summer day you would never want to end.
